Poor Farm Day 2

For the first time in a long time we slept with our windows open.  The cool mountain air felt wonderful.   We woke up hungry and ready for breakfast.  Donna Munley has an amazing system to feed all of the guests (70!) at the Poor Farm. Menus are carefully planned and someone is assigned to each task for each meal.  The dinner bell is rung when meals are ready.  Breakfast is a bit more relaxed with people served over a two hour span.

We sat outside and enjoyed the cool breezes.  The views were wonderful, barns and farms in the distance, fields of corn, mountains, and deer and eagles.  We were concerned about Bill Kappes and Jerry Grizzard.  Each was in the path of Hermine.  Bill left home before the stom hit in Tallahassee and waited with Jeannie and Jerry in Raleigh to let the wind and rain move on before they started their drive to Upper Tract, WV.

Breland, Gwenda, Larry and I went to Seneca Rocks.  It is the highest peak in West Virginia and a favorite of local mountain climbers.  Gwenda did a great job of driving us on those twisting mountain roads.   We did get into a bit of trouble taking an unpaved road up the mountain.  Gwenda's low-slung car bottomed out a bit on the way up.  We solved that problem by letting her drive down alone and we walked down to lighten the load.
