A Long Trip

Our trip began with a long day of flying.  We got up at 4am to get to the airport for our first flight to Los Angeles.  I was dreading flying Delta.  After years of flying eastern commuter flights on Delta I had really bad memories of dirty, crowded, uncomfortable planes and surly flight attendants.  This flight and the next one to Seattle were a pleasant change.  The plane was brand new, the flight attendants were delightful, and the flight entertainment system kept me content for the long flights. The flight between Seattle and Anchorage was more like the old Delta.  Older plane, worn interior and flight attendants that looked like they resented their work.

We arrived in Anchorage at 6pm, fifteen hours after leaving New Orleans.  The walk to the Hertz rental desk seemed endless as we carried all of our luggage through.  At least the Marriot Courtyard was nearby.  Our flight the next morning was for 6am again, this one on to Brooks Falls.
