A Long Drive to West Virginia

August 31, 2016

We left home a couple of days earlier than we had originally planned.  Something is wrong with the motorhome transmission and we did not have time to get it repaired before the trip.  Packing the truck for a long trip with the dog took a lot of careful planning.  We spent the first night in Chattanooga.  The Marriott Residence Inn had reasonable rates and a free breakfast and it seemed like a great place to stop.  It was new and the bedroom was beautifully decorated BUT there was no mention of a fee for the dog when I registered.  With the fees and taxes the room was $220, not at all reasonable.  I have written a letter of complaint but we were tired from the day and paid that ridiculous amount.  We ordered dinner delivered from a local Mediterranean restaurant because we did not want to leave Clark alone in the hotel.

The ride was much more interesting today.  The hills and mountains made for interesting scenery and there were many farms among the hills.  We stopped for lunch at a nice rest stop with a view of beautiful farm land.  Our hotel tonight was inexpensive with a $15 per night pet fee but I was glad we were only there for a single night.  Our take-out from Chile's was on plan for our diet and surprisingly good.
